Term, Probation, and Probation Review

The probationary period is three months. For roasters, assessment focuses on profile development accuracy, first and second crack identification, colour consistency across batches, and safe operation of the roasting drum and cooling tray. For non-production roles, evaluation covers green coffee sourcing communication, cupping skills, or wholesale client relationship management.

Statutory notice applies during probation. A mid-point review will address roast profile adherence to target Agtron scores, waste and shrinkage rates, and the Employee's ability to maintain production schedules during peak wholesale demand periods.

Permanent status is confirmed after successful probation. Extension may occur if the Employee requires additional supervised time on the roasting equipment or has not completed the Employer's internal Q-grading training module.

Duties, Role, and Exclusivity

Duties include roasting green coffee to specified profiles, quality control cupping, packaging for retail and wholesale, and maintaining roasting equipment. The Employee shall not commercially roast or trade coffee independently without written consent from the Employer.

Remuneration, Benefits, and Pay

Monthly salary is paid in arrears. The Employee receives a weekly allocation of roasted coffee for personal use and discounts on equipment. Training toward SCA or Q-grader certification may be sponsored at the Employer's discretion.

Working Time, Location, and Hours

Roasting shifts follow production schedules that may begin early to accommodate wholesale delivery windows. The primary workplace is the roastery facility, with travel to origin farms, trade shows, or wholesale client sites as the role requires.
