Parties and Contract Type
This Employment Contract is agreed between the Employer, a lawn care business providing mowing, fertilization, weed treatment, aeration, and seasonal maintenance to residential and commercial properties, and the Employee. The company services a route-based client portfolio with recurring weekly or fortnightly visits throughout the growing season.
Employment is permanent from the Start Date, governed by the employment laws of the applicable jurisdiction. This agreement is the complete statement of terms and supersedes all previous offers.
Lawn care involves operating commercial mowers, string trimmers, and chemical application equipment outdoors in all weather conditions. The Employee works with herbicides and fertilizers regulated under pesticide application laws and commits to maintaining any required applicator certifications.
Term, Probation, and Probation Review
Probation is three months. The Employer evaluates the Employee's mowing quality and stripe consistency, edging precision around beds and hardscaping, fertilizer and herbicide application accuracy, and efficiency in completing a full route within the allocated time window.
Either party may terminate with statutory notice during probation. A review at six weeks addresses the Employee's equipment handling and maintenance discipline, turf health diagnostic ability, customer interaction quality, and compliance with chemical application records and buffer zone requirements.
Permanent employment follows successful probation. Extension is available if the Employee is still completing pesticide applicator licensing or has not worked through a full seasonal cycle from spring green-up through autumn leaf cleanup.
Duties, Role, and Exclusivity
The Employee mows, edges, applies treatments, aerates, and performs seasonal cleanups across assigned client properties. Operating a competing lawn care or landscape maintenance business requires the Employer's written consent.
Remuneration, Benefits, and Pay
Salary is paid monthly in arrears. A company vehicle or trailer is provided for route work. Seasonal bonuses may be awarded for achieving client retention and upselling additional services such as overseeding or grub treatment.
Working Time, Location, and Hours
The Employee works a daily route of client properties, starting from the company yard. Hours are weather-dependent and follow daylight availability. Winter months may involve reduced hours or reassignment to snow removal duties.

Why lawn care business businesses need a employment contract
Lawn Care Business employees often handle sensitive information, operate specialised equipment, or interact directly with customers, making role-specific employment contracts essential. A lawn care business employment contract must address industry-standard working patterns, health and safety obligations, and any required certifications or training. Restrictive covenants like non-compete and non-solicitation clauses need to be calibrated to lawn care business market norms to be enforceable.
