Grocery Store Employment Contract Generator

This Employment Contract is between the Employer, operating a grocery store providing fresh produce, packaged goods, and household essentials from its retail premises, and the Employee. The store serves a local customer base with daily replenishment of perishable stock and requires staff across checkout, shelf stacking, stock management, and customer service roles.

Employment is permanent from the Start Date. The contract is governed by applicable employment law and constitutes the complete agreement between the parties. The grocery retail sector involves shift work across early mornings, evenings, and weekends to accommodate deliveries and customer footfall patterns.

The Employee acknowledges that the role involves physical demands including lifting and shelving stock weighing up to 20kg, standing for extended periods, operating refrigeration and cold storage areas, and potentially handling age-restricted products such as alcohol and tobacco.

A three-month probation period applies from the Start Date. The Employer assesses the Employee's shelf stacking speed and accuracy, checkout operation proficiency, stock rotation compliance (FIFO for perishables), and customer service quality including handling complaints and assisting with product location queries.

Either party may terminate during probation with statutory notice. A review meeting within six weeks will evaluate the Employee's understanding of the store layout, their ability to manage a checkout queue during peak hours, manual handling technique, and adherence to the store's loss prevention procedures.

Permanent status is confirmed after satisfactory probation. Extension is possible where the Employee requires additional training on age verification procedures, pharmacy counter support, or the store's inventory management system.
