Parties and Contract Type
This Employment Contract is between the Employer, a nail salon providing manicure, pedicure, gel, acrylic, nail art, and hand and foot treatment services, and the Employee. The salon serves walk-in and appointment-based clients, requiring nail technicians and front-of-house staff who combine technical skill with customer care in a detail-oriented beauty environment.
Employment is permanent from the Start Date under the employment laws of the applicable jurisdiction. This contract is the complete agreement.
Nail salon work involves extended periods of seated close-focus work, handling chemical products (acetone, acrylic monomers, UV gel resins), operating UV and LED curing lamps, and maintaining strict sanitization protocols between clients. The Employee accepts these conditions and maintains any required health and beauty certifications.
Term, Probation, and Probation Review
Probation lasts three months. The Employer evaluates the Employee's technical nail application quality (gel, acrylic, BIAB), nail art creativity and precision, service timing against the salon's appointment schedule, and adherence to hygiene and sanitization protocols between each client.
Statutory notice applies during probation. A review at six weeks covers the Employee's client rebooking rate, accuracy of nail shape and length to client specification, product usage efficiency, and professionalism in handling client complaints or repair requests.
Permanent employment follows successful probation. Extension may apply if the Employee is completing an advanced nail technology qualification or requires further practice on specialty services such as hard gel extensions, Russian manicure, or electric file technique.
Duties, Role, and Exclusivity
The Employee performs nail treatments, maintains tools and workstation sanitation, manages product inventory, and advises clients on aftercare. Accepting private nail clients or working at a competing salon requires written consent.
Remuneration, Benefits, and Pay
Salary is paid monthly in arrears. Commission on service and retail sales may apply. Staff receive discounted treatments and products. The Employer funds advanced nail training courses at their discretion.
Working Time, Location, and Hours
The salon operates six days a week with extended hours on weekdays for evening appointments. The Employee works from the salon premises. Saturday attendance is standard as it is the highest-demand day.

Why nail salon businesses need a employment contract
Nail Salon employees often handle sensitive information, operate specialised equipment, or interact directly with customers, making role-specific employment contracts essential. A nail salon employment contract must address industry-standard working patterns, health and safety obligations, and any required certifications or training. Restrictive covenants like non-compete and non-solicitation clauses need to be calibrated to nail salon market norms to be enforceable.
