Parties and Contract Type
Between the Employer, operating a taco shop serving authentic tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and Mexican-inspired street food from its commercial premises, and the Employee. The business trades from a counter-service location with an open kitchen, requiring cooks, prep staff, and cashiers who can handle high-volume tortilla production and salsa preparation throughout the day.
Employment is permanent from the Start Date. This agreement is governed by the employment laws of the relevant jurisdiction and constitutes the full terms of the Employee's engagement with the taco shop. No prior offer letter or verbal discussion amends these terms unless incorporated in writing.
Taco shop work involves sustained heat exposure from flat-top grills and steamers, repetitive food assembly during rushes, and handling fresh chili peppers and spice blends that can cause skin and eye irritation. The Employee confirms awareness of these conditions.
Term, Probation, and Probation Review
The first three months constitute probation. The Employer evaluates tortilla pressing or warming technique, protein preparation and portioning, salsa and guacamole freshness management, and the Employee's ability to maintain order accuracy when the queue extends out the door during lunch service.
Statutory notice applies for either party during probation. A mid-probation review will assess the Employee's taco assembly speed, understanding of the menu's allergen profile (gluten, dairy, nuts in mole sauces), and consistency in applying the shop's signature flavor profiles.
Permanent employment is confirmed after a satisfactory probation period. The Employer may extend by up to three months where the Employee has not yet worked through a full seasonal menu rotation or completed internal food safety certification.
Duties, Role, and Exclusivity
The Employee prepares tacos, salsas, and sides according to house recipes, operates the grill and prep stations, and assists with customer orders. Competing employment in Mexican or Tex-Mex food service requires the Employer's prior written consent.
Remuneration, Benefits, and Pay
Salary is paid monthly in arrears at the gross amount specified in the Employee's offer. A complimentary meal is provided during each shift. Performance bonuses may be awarded during peak trading weeks at the Employer's discretion.
Working Time, Location, and Hours
The taco shop trades from late morning through to late evening. Weekend and public holiday shifts are routine. The Employee works from the shop premises, with occasional involvement in catering jobs or food market stalls as the business requires.

Why taco shop businesses need a employment contract
Taco Shop employees often handle sensitive information, operate specialised equipment, or interact directly with customers, making role-specific employment contracts essential. A taco shop employment contract must address industry-standard working patterns, health and safety obligations, and any required certifications or training. Restrictive covenants like non-compete and non-solicitation clauses need to be calibrated to taco shop market norms to be enforceable.
