Parties and Contract Type

Serenova Wellness Spa, a health and beauty establishment offering massage therapy, facial treatments, body treatments, and holistic wellness services, enters into this Employment Contract with the Employee named in Schedule 1. The spa employs qualified therapists, aestheticians, reception staff, and wellness coordinators who deliver treatments in a calm, hygienic, and professional environment.

Employment begins on a permanent basis from the Start Date and is governed by the employment legislation of the applicable jurisdiction. This contract constitutes the entire agreement between the parties. The Employer requires all treatment-delivering staff to hold and maintain valid professional certifications and insurance appropriate to the therapies they perform.

Spa work involves sustained physical effort during hands-on treatments, handling of skincare and chemical products, and maintaining a tranquil atmosphere for clients. The Employee confirms their understanding that current professional qualifications, up-to-date treatment certifications, and compliance with the spa's hygiene and safety protocols are conditions of continued employment in any treatment-delivering role.

Term, Probation, and Probation Review

Probation lasts three months from the commencement date. The Employer assesses the Employee's treatment technique and client feedback scores, consultation skills including the ability to identify contraindications, product knowledge across the spa's retail and professional ranges, and adherence to room turnaround schedules and hygiene decontamination procedures between clients.

Either party may terminate during probation on statutory notice. The Employer conducts a formal review at six weeks evaluating treatment consistency, client rebooking rates, retail recommendation confidence, and the Employee's ability to tailor services based on individual client needs and medical history disclosures.

Permanent employment is confirmed after satisfactory probation. Extension may apply where the Employee needs to complete training on newly introduced treatment protocols, obtain additional certifications for advanced therapies such as microneedling or chemical peels, or build confidence in client consultation and upselling techniques.

Duties, Role, and Exclusivity

Responsibilities include delivering booked treatments, conducting client consultations, maintaining treatment rooms to hygiene standards, and recommending retail products. The Employee must keep professional certifications current and shall not provide competing spa services privately without written consent.

Remuneration, Benefits, and Pay

Gross salary is paid monthly in arrears. Commission on retail product sales may supplement base pay. The Employer covers the cost of mandatory certification renewals and provides complimentary treatments to staff on a monthly allocation basis.

Working Time, Location, and Hours

Treatment schedules dictate working hours, including evenings and weekends to accommodate client demand. The primary workplace is the spa premises, with potential for off-site work at partner hotels, corporate wellness days, or pop-up wellness events.

Why spa businesses need a employment contract

Spa employees often handle sensitive information, operate specialised equipment, or interact directly with customers, making role-specific employment contracts essential. A spa employment contract must address industry-standard working patterns, health and safety obligations, and any required certifications or training. Restrictive covenants like non-compete and non-solicitation clauses need to be calibrated to spa market norms to be enforceable.
